Original Description
Back in 1896 the town of Marcus was the liveliest trade center in the whole upper Columbia river canyon. But the chief mode of land transportation then was the saddle horse. Historic Marcus will be inundated by 60 feet of water when the lake has reached it's ultimate height, but plans to move onto higher ground where a new school has been built.
